This core group of educators, now teaching across 11 different schools—including 2 charter schools—has come together as a united force of like-minded individuals who support each other and their students. They share a common goal: to be proud representatives of their race and to serve as role models for students who share their cultural backgrounds.

These teachers bring with them rich and diverse histories, spanning from Africa to the Caribbean—including Jamaica, the Antilles, Haiti, and Dominica—and, of course, America. Their linguistic talents are equally impressive, with fluency in English, French, Creole, Spanish, and Haitian. In a district where the number of English Language Learners (ELLs) continues to grow, the contributions of BEI teachers are invaluable, impacting the lives of all students they encounter.
